It’s very easy to get in the habit of using the same products day in and day out without giving new products a chance. I recently realized I don’t have a ton of holy grail items in my makeup bag but yet I get super comfortable using the same products I do own. I wanted to start a new series dedicated to trying new things with the hopes of finding some hidden gems along the way (plus I really just wanted a reason to constantly buy new makeup without feeling guilty about it).
For my first post I wanted to test out a bunch of products from Essence Cosmetics – which in my opinion are a drugstore brand that simply gets it. The drugstore beauty world is gettin’ real pricey these days but Essence Cosmetics continues to provide great quality items at an actual drugstore cost. Check out the products I tried out below & let me know if any of these are your holy grails!
Cover Stick in 10 Matt Naturelle – $3.99 CAD
Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder in 01 Natural – $4.99 CAD
Pure Nude Highlighter in 10 Be My Highlight – $4.99 CAD
Keep it Perfect Fixing Spray – $5.99 CAD
Spice Up Your Life Eyeshadow Palette – $9.99 CAD
Longlasting Eyeliner Pen in 03 Brown – $3.99 CAD

My Top 3 Favs
1. Metal Shock Eyeshadow: These were my favourite outta everything I tried! They’re super pigmented, no creasing, no smudging & remind me so much of the Stila glitters at half the price. I definitely see myself picking up more shades in the near future
2. Pure Nude Highlighter in 10 Be My Highlight: This is a beautiful highlighter because you get the sheen without the glitter. It’s a perfect every day highlighter plus you can wet your brush to get that highlight on fleek effect (is that still a thing..?)
3. Spice Up Your Life Eyeshadow Palette: I love the colour range in this palette and at $9.99 CAD you really do get a lot of bang for your buck!
